The Middle Child has a Name

Last year, towards the end of our Chemistry course, we watched a video about the Bear Brook case, and we discussed how scientists can use isotopes found in teeth to determine the areas in which a person may have lived.

This technique helped narrow down the identities of three of the Bear Brook victims, and those identities were eventually confirmed by DNA. The remains dubbed “The Middle Child” were still unidentified.

Scientists knew the murderer (serial murderer) Terry Rasmussen, was the child’s biological father, but that was all that was known about her.

Now she has a name. Rea.

This is huge news, a blessing to those who knew and loved her, and a HUGE win for science!
