Join us for our new Six-Week STEM Course!
Our first course offering will be:
Engineering and Inventing
Wednesdays, 10AM-1PM
October 6 - November 6, 2026

Students will learn about Forces & Motion, Power & Energy, Simple & Compound Machines, Engineering & Design, Problems & Prototypes, and Patenting and Marketing.

This experiential and project-based course will allow students to work both on teams and individually to identify and solve problems in unique and creative ways. As students master skills and concepts they will receive badges for their Inventor's Passport, a provided booklet in which they can write notes about what they are learning.
 
Each class will begin with an short activity- a goal to reach or a problem to solve.  Next we'll move on to a practical, engaging lesson.  Following the lesson, students will engage in a longer, more complex activity to reinforce what they have learned.

Students will spend time working on their own personal inventions both during and outside class.  These inventions will be presented at our Marketing Fair on the final day of class.  

No assigned homework.
No testing.
No grading.
This class is designed to be a more casual alternative to, or enrichment for, our standard, full academic courses we have always offered.

What ages are appropriate for this class?
We recommend this course for students ages 10-17.  We have years of experience working with mixed-age groups.  It's all about collaboration!  We have found the older students benefit from shepherding younger students just as much as younger students benefit from working alongside older students.
 
Where is this class held?
Lab Rats Cooperative Learning hold all classes at the Director's home in the Olde Atlanta Club Subdivision, located in Suwanee, South Forsyth Co.  For safety purposes, our exact address is made available upon enrollment.
 
Is this a drop-off situation?
Absolutely!
 
Can I count this as an elective credit for my highschooler?
This is homeschooling!  If it meets your standards, of course you can!
 
How is this different from your Physical Science Course?
Aside from being shorter, less demanding, and more hands-on, this course will focus less on structured, step-by-step labs, and more on creative "free" work and problem solving.
 
What if I change my mind? 
Tuition is fully-refundable up to 30 days before the start date of the course.
